Rebecca is an attorney and joined the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO, in 2008. As Government Affairs Director, she works with affiliated organizations and community partners to improve the lives of Washington’s working families. Rebecca leads the WSLC's core lobbying team in Olympia with Legislative and Policy Director Teresa Mosqueda. The WSLC and our United Labor Lobby legislative team work on a wide range of policy issues -- including improving collective bargaining and voice at work, health care for all, ensuring workers are safe from hazards and discrimination, strengthening our injured workers' and unemployment safety nets, and shaping our future workforce through meaningful training and education. Rebecca serves on a number of boards and committees, including the Workers' Compensation Advisory Committee, the WISHA Advisory Committee, Vocational Rehabilitation Committee, Provider Network Advisory Committee, Self-Insured Ombudsman Committee and the Unemployment Law Project Board. Rebecca completed the AFL-CIO Organizing Institute internship program in 2000 and became a successful organizer with the Service Employees International Union. Rebecca moved to Washington in 2002 and joined SEIU 1199NW, where she represented and assisted members in contract negotiation and employment grievances and trained leadership teams to advocate for improved patient care standards through political action and community outreach. Rebecca earned her B.A. in Sociology and Women's Studies from the University of Colorado and her law degree from the University of Washington.
