Steve Taylor joined the Cowlitz PUD as Director of Regulatory and Regional Affairs in July of 2019. He recently completed ten years managing the cities of Kelso and Connell in Washington state. Steve was elected to the charter City Council of Spokane Valley in 2002 and served seven years, including two years as Deputy Mayor. Professionally, Steve was the Vice President of Corporate Development and Corporate Secretary for Hunt Mountain Resources, a publicly-traded international precious metal exploration company, the Government Affairs Director for the Spokane Home Builders and Spokane REALTORS Associations, and a congressional and campaign staff member for former U.S. Representative George Nethercutt (WA-5th Dist.) He is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served at Fairchild AFB from 1994-1998. Steve earned a Bachelors degree in Finance & Economics, graduating summa cum laude, and a Masters in Public Administration, both from Eastern Washington University. He was the first Chair of the Cowlitz 911 Public Authority and has served on the Cowlitz Economic Development Council Executive Committee, Three Rivers Regional Wastewater Authority Board of Directors (alternate), Washington Cities Insurance Authority Executive Committee and the board of the Washington State Municipal Research and Services Center. He was also the Incoming President of the Wash. City/County Management Association.
