Mozhdeh Oskouian is the Co-Deputy Director of Northwest Immigrant Right Projects (NWIRP), a role she took on in June 2023. NWIRP, a nationally recognized legal services organization in Washington State, is dedicated to advancing and defending the rights of immigrants with low or no income through direct legal services, community education, and systemic advocacy.
As a Deputy Director, Mozhdeh oversees NWIRP’s Seattle and Granger offices. She also assists in planning the organization’s annual budget and set of priorities, overseeing compliance with funding requirements, and directing NWIRP’s legal services. She also serves on key organizational committees, and supervises directing attorneys and various organization-wide units.
Mozhdeh has been at NWIRP since 2006. Prior to becoming a Deputy Director, she served as one of NWIRP’s Directing Attorney for nine years. In that role, she represented clients in immigration proceedings, supervised NWIRP’s legal unit supervisors, and advocated for capacity expansion within organizational constraints. From 2006 to 2015, Mozhdeh supervised NWIRP’s VAWA Unit, the Seattle office's largest unit. As part of her VAWA Supervising Attorney duties, she oversaw immigration cases, implemented case review systems, and provided training and support. Mozhdeh’s personal experience as an immigrant to the United States fuels her unwavering passion for, and commitment to, working towards justice for all immigrants.
Mozhdeh obtained her B.A. from Evergreen College and her J.D. from Seattle University School of Law.
