Katara Jordan is a Senior Manager at Building Changes, leading policy and advocacy efforts to impact children, youth, and families experiencing homelessness in Washington state. Through the Schoolhouse Washington project, she works to improve housing stability and academic success for students experiencing homelessness. She also works closely on the Washington Youth and Families Fund which seeks to apply data-driven, equitable, cross-sector approaches to housing issues impacting children youth and families. Previously she worked as an attorney at Columbia Legal Services, where she worked on removing systemic barriers for children and youth who were homeless, low-income, at-risk, or in foster care. She is a former recipient of an Equal Justice Works two-year fellowship awarded to lawyers who develop new, innovative projects that provide legal services to low-income and underserved populations. Katara holds a B.A. in Women’s Studies from Barnard College, Columbia University in New York City, Master’s in Social Work from the University of Washington Seattle, and a law degree from the University of Washington School of Law.
