Received a masters in social work from University of Chicago in 1980. Worked with pregnant & parenting teens in Chicago prior to moving to Seattle in 1982. Continued to do direct service, working with children, youth & families involved in the child welfare system, until I started lobbying in 1990. Public policy/lobbying focus has been on issues such as child welfare, children's mental health, public assistance, children's health, early learning and juvenile justice. Married with 2 grown children.
