Tim Candela is a LEAD Project Manager for the Public Defender Association and serves Seattle Police Department's West Precinct. Tim's current role is focused on providing technical assistance, coordinating LEAD activities, facilitation of meetings, and community engagement germane to LEAD. Tim has provided various levels of macro and micro level Social Work practices over the past 11 years. Before joining the Public Defender Association, Tim did street-based outreach and case management to youth experiencing homelessness in South King County. Tim was then hired on as one of the first LEAD case managers during its Belltown pilot implementation in October of 2011. After leaving LEAD, Tim went back to homeless youth services to manage multiple programs that ranged from drop-in, shelter, and street outreach. More recently, Tim worked at the Washington State Department of Health (WSDOH) serving as a contract manager for state funded Syringe Service Programs. While at the WSDOH, Tim also provided policy analysis and community engagement activities relevant to harm reduction, locally and nationally.
